The trailer for the next installment in The X-Files was released at New York Comic Con which teases the sci-fi series’ upcoming return for Season 11.
In 2016, THE X-FILES drew an average Multi-Platform audience of nearly 16 million viewers and was last season’s No. 2 broadcast drama. It also was the season’s most talked-about event series on Twitter, and now it’s back for another special event series.
The previous season left on a huge cliffhanger and now sees Scully has taken a turn since the Season 10 finale saw her rushing to save a sick Mulder. The trailer shows her recovery, but not before she begs Mulder to, “find him and you have to stop him before he releases hell on Earth”. Is she talking about Cigarette Smoking Man, or perhaps their missing son? She then exclaims, “I have to find our son!”
With that, the hunt for William promises to play a major role in the 10-episode installment.
During the New York Comic Con panel for The X-Files, Gillian Anderson revealed that Season 11 will be her last and she chose to do this season “because it felt like it wasn’t over. It didn’t feel like we necessarily deliver everything the fans were expecting of us last time, and so it was that.”
The event series will air during the 2017-2018 season.
