New To Netflix: Everything Sucks

Everything Sucks Netflix 2018

Take a trip down memory lane to 1996 in the new Netflix series, Everything Sucks.

The new series looks at the full 90s high school experience: Desperate, heartfelt, awkward, exciting, and free of smartphones. Set in the real life town of Boring, Oregon in 1996, Everything Sucks! is a quirky, funny coming of age story that revolves around Boring High School’s A/V Club and Drama Club– two crews of nerdy-edgy outsiders, who join forces to make a movie and endure the purgatory known as high school.

In an interview with HollywoodLifethe cast had to do a little research into the 1990s as the majority of them weren’t born until the early 2000s. According to Sydney Sweeney, who was actually born in 1997, they checked out movies and TV series such as 10 Things About You, The Breakfast Club and Freaks and Geeks.

Elijah Stevenson plays the resident bad boy of Everything Sucks! and he drew inspiration from Heath Ledger’s character in 10 Things I Hate About You.

The series stars Peyton Kennedy (American Fable), Jahi Winston (The New Edition Story), Patch Darragh (Sully), Claudine Mboligikpelani Nako (Grimm), Sydney Sweeney, Elijah Stevenson, Quinn Liebling and Rio Mangini.

Everything Sucks is created by Ben York Jones and Michael Mohan, who are also executive producers.

Catch the 10-episode season of Everything Sucks on February 16th.
