‘The Shannara Chronicles’ Finally Returns To TV!

After almost two years since the television adaption of The Shannara Chronicles premiered on MTV, the series makes its return for Season 2 now on Spike.

The new season is set one year after the events of Season One and sees The Four Lands in chaos once again. The re-emergence of magic has the populace terrified, and an organisation called The Crimson is hunting down magic users using fear and intimidation to sow discord among the races.

Wil (Austin Butler), scarred by the loss of Amberle (Poppy Drayton) and his separation from Eretria (Ivana Baquero), has turned his back on his magical destiny to become a healer. But when a mysterious woman named Mareth (Malese Jow, The Flash) saves Wil from a Crimson attack, he is forced to rejoin the fight.

After reuniting with Eretria, Wil and Mareth seek out Allanon (Manu Bennett), only to learn that the Druid’s former protégé, Bandon (Marcus Vanco), is on a mission to resurrect a creature of darkest evil: The Warlock Lord. Together, our heroes must band together to take down The Crimson and prevent Bandon from unleashing an even greater threat upon the Four Lands, before it’s too late.

The season 2 premiere will introduce Mareth, who is another character from Terry Brooks’ novels, but didn’t actually have an impact on Wil’s journey. She’s described to be a “volatile and unpredictable” young woman who is also “sharp, brash, and independent to a fault.”

Previews of the first episode sees Mareth surprised as to how Wil ever saved the world. As their conversations continue, Wil reveals he was involved in a bar fight, which may reveal he struggled with the loss of Amberle. It also seems it takes Wil quite some time to find Eretria as we last saw him embarking on a journey to find her.

In this season, we will see our characters travel to new places in the Shannara world: the Kingdom of Leah, Skull Mountain, and Graymark.

Also joining the new season includes Garet (Gentry White, unREAL), Lyria (Vanessa Morgan, Finding Carter), Queen Tamlin (Caaroline Chikezie, Eragon), and General Riga (Desmond Chiam).

The Shannara Chronicles premieres at 9pm on Spike.
