With the return of Once Upon a Time, a countdown of some of the best moments is in order! As many of you fans already know, this season is following a whole different plot with many new characters. The seventh season of Once Upon a Time is set to premiere today and judging by the trailers, this season looks promising despite losing many of its beloved regular cast.

Read on to discover some of the best moments so far in the series! Tell us in the comments below if you’re excited for Season 7 and what you hope to see!

EMMA BREAKS THE FIRST CURSE (Season 1, Episode 22)

Our beloved main character, Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), came to the town of Storybrooke with her son she had given up many years ago. She wasn’t comfortable with her surroundings, the people in the town and certainly didn’t understand the curse or believe in it. At the end of the first season, Emma’s son, Henry (Jared Gilmore) has been rushed to the hospital after eating a poisonous apple tart and dies while Emma is slaying the dragon. Both Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Emma are devastated to hear the news and upon arrival at the hospital, the two grieve. Emma whispers to Henry she loves him before kissing his forehead and breaks the curse as it is an act of true love.

Emma was a non-believer for most of the first season and only came to Storybrooke because she wanted to bring Henry back home. Emma also wasn’t sure of her place in the world with Henry and after this moment, she knows she has someone she loves and who loves her back.

SNOW AND CHARMING MEET FOR THE FIRST TIME (Season 1, Episode 3)

Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming’s (Josh Dallas) first meeting is definitely an interesting way to meet your future husband, especially since Charming was on his way to wed another. Charming and his fiancee are stopped by a fallen tree blocking the road before being ambushed by a hooded vagabond who steals Charming’s valuables including a wedding ring. Charming runs after the thief and discovers it’s a woman by the name of Snow White. She hits him with a rock and she escapes, but not before he yells after her saying he will find her. This is only the beginning of a beautiful love story, which becomes one of the front and center stories throughout the series.

SNOW WHITE KILLS CORA (Season 2, Episode 16)

Cora (Barbara Hershey) is a hated character by many fans and she certainly does her share of bad deeds. Snow White visibly hated her, but no one expected her to kill Cora since Snow is a hero character and to kill a character out of hatred is so unlike her. When Snow whispers Cora’s name over a candle in order to trade Cora for Gold, everyone was a little bit confused but this was a moment was worthy of being labelled the best or one of the most shocking.

PAN IS REVEALED TO BE RUMPLE’S FATHER (Season 3, Episode 18)

The villain of part of season 3 is Peter Pan (Robbie Kay), and yes, he is an amazing villain. He appears as a teenage boy, but this is so far from the truth that when fans found out who he really is, we screamed with shock (and many people questioned their budding crushes on the villain). Peter Pan turned out to be Rumple’s (Robert Carlyle) father, Malcolm, who didn’t want to be a father and just wanted to be young again. He gave up Rumple to the shadow on Neverland, became young again and took on a new identity of Peter Pan.

CAPTAIN SWAN’S KISS IN GRANNY’S DINER (Season 3, Episode 22)

After a season and a half of extreme sexual and romantic tension, Emma and Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) shared their first kiss, but Emma walked away saying it didn’t mean anything. Then, when they locked lips again at the end of Season 3, it seemed like a mutual decision and real. Hook and Emma had just gone through a stressful experience and when Emma realises Hook traded his pirate ship to save her, she realises just how much she means to him. This kiss was the beginning of a beautiful relationship between these two leads (and yes, I fangirled hard).

EMMA BECOMES THE DARK ONE (Season 4, Episode 23)

This show is known for its cliffhangers that leave the fans stressed until the next season comes out, but this one has got to have been one of the worst in the show. Uncontrollable darkness coming from the Author (Patrick Fischler) surrounds Regina and tries to take her away, but Emma sacrifices herself instead. This was an emotional scene because Emma tells Hook she loves him right before grabbing the dagger and thrusting it into the darkness. As the darkness surrounds her, her family is watching on unable to help and all that’s left is the dagger with the name ‘Emma Swan’ on it.

EMMA AND HOOK ARE REVEALED TO HAVE TRUE LOVE (Season 5, Episode 20)

This episode featured a truly beautiful moment for Captain Swan as they found out their love was indeed true love. Emma and Hook have to pass scales to make it out of the underworld and it reads that, “only a heart filled with true love can pass.” Emma puts her heart on the scale and nothing happens, but then Emma starts choking and telling Hook to take her heart back except he can’t as fire erupts from the scales. Emma is torn between taking her heart or saving Hook. Of course, she ends up saving Hook which proves to be the right choice as they are allowed to pass. Upon realising what they share is indeed true love, the two smile at each other making fans around the world fill with joy.

EMMA IS FORCED TO KILL HOOK (Season 5, Episode 11)

Fans broke down when Emma was forced by Hook to kill him in order to defeat the dark ones. Emma goes through with his wishes killing him with Excalibur all the while crying. Hook dies as a hero because he destroys the darkness. This moment was crucial for character development as it shows that Hook really has changed, but it also broke so many Captain Swan hearts so it was hard to see this as a necessary moment. Plus, then we had to wait for a couple of months for the mid-season premiere so that was pure torture.

BELLE MAKES RUMPLE LEAVE STORYBROOKE (Season 4, Episode 11)

Belle (Emilie de Ravin) is a fan favourite, but she doesn’t often stand up for herself against Rumple so when this moment occurred, many people were cheering the character on. Belle finds the real dagger and commands Rumple to do things, including leaving town because she discovers he can’t choose power or love. For fans of Rumple and Belle’s romance, this was a tear jerking episode, but everyone admired her courage.

WE FINALLY FIND OUT HOW EMMA GETS HER RED LEATHER JACKET (Season 5, Episode 20)

The red leather jacket is Emma’s signature outfit and finding out how she got it is something fans, including myself, have always wanted to see. Emma finds the jacket in a store when she goes to deliver a message to a girl whose mother she knew. Her red jacket is basically her armour protecting her from the world (or at least that’s how she views it).

Once Upon a Time returns Friday October 6th at 8pm ET on ABC.
