Love, Simon: Becky Albertalli’s YA Novel Gets Its First Trailer

The first trailer for the adaptation of Becky Albertalli’s Simon vs. The Homosapiens Agenda promises a funny and heartfelt coming-of-age story.

Love, Simon is based on the bestselling debut novel by Becky Albertalli and follows seventeen-year-old Simon Spier. Everyone deserves a great love story, but for Simon, it’s a little more complicated.

He’s yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.

Many fans of the novel are excited to see the book come to life, with many positive reactions to the trailer. It’s most definitely a story that is needed in today’s society as it depicts a gay character that isn’t surrounded by the common tropes of tragedy and loneliness, for example.

Written by Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger (This is Us), the film is directed by Greg Berlanti (Riverdale, Arrow) who is openly gay so he will most definitely be true to the story and emotions surrounding it.

More than likely, the film will be filled with compassion, humour, and warmth, just like its book counterpart which is a really fun read and highly recommended by many at The Nerd Daily.

Starring Katherine Langford and Miles Heizer (13 Reasons Why), Jennifer Garner (Dallas Buyers Club), Josh Duhamel (Safe Haven), Colton Haynes (Arrow), Nick Robinson (Jurassic World), Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse), Logan Miller (A Dog’s Purpose) and Mackenzie Lintz (Under The Dome).

Love, Simon hits theatres March 16th 2018.
