Freeform’s Mermaid Series ‘Siren’ Gets A Sneak Peek

Ryn is literally a fish-out-of-water in the first sneak peek of Freeform’s upcoming mermaid series, Siren, released at New York Comic Con today.

After being treated to a trailer back in April, it’s nice to be getting more of a look at the new series as the premiere date begins to draw closer. In this sneak peek, we see a mysterious girl (Eline Powell) awaken in an abandoned boat who chows down on a nearby rat before stealing some clothes and heading into town. Whilst traversing the streets, you can easily tell she doesn’t belong with the way she moves as well as when she looks strangely at a depiction of a mermaid. She is soon stopped by Helen (Rena Owen) who calls out to passerby’s about her store having the only real mermaid, which would certainly pique the interest of a mermaid.

Siren takes us inside Bristol Cove—a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. When the arrival of a mysterious girl proves this folklore all too true, the battle between man and sea takes a very vicious turn as these predatory beings return to reclaims their right to the ocean.

The series follows Ben, a bright marine biologist who finds himself drawn to a mysterious new girl Ryn, who is a strange young woman with a deep dark secret. Then there’s Maddie, who works with Ben as a marine biologist but is highly suspicious of the new girl; Xander, a deep-sea fisherman on a quest to uncover the truth; and Helen, the town eccentric who seems to know more about the mermaids than she lets on.

Starring Alex Roe (The 5th Wave), Eline Powell (Game of Thrones), Fola Evans-Akingbola (An American Exorcism), Ian Verdun (Life’s a Drag) and Rena Owen (Star Wars II & III).

Catch the two-hour premiere of Siren March 29th (International Mermaid Day) on Freeform.
