Mary Poppins Returns December 2018 Movies

What better way to end a year than seeing some exciting new movies!? The December line-up will finish 2018 off nicely with some big movies here to delight, including Mary Poppins Returns, which stars Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Superhero fans will be treated to Jason Momoa in Aquaman and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. If you prefer to view from your home, you’ll be able to watch the adaptation of Julie Murphy’s YA novel Dumplin’ on Netflix, along with Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.

Mary Poppins Returns
Decades after her original visit, the magical nanny returns to help the Banks siblings and Michael’s children through a difficult time in their lives. Starring Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place), Lin-Manuel Miranda (Broadway’s Hamilton), Emily Mortimer (The Newsroom), Ben Whishaw (Cloud Atlas), Julie Walters (Harry Potter), Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada), Angela Lansbury (Beauty and the Beast), Colin Firth (Bridget Jones’s Diary), and Dick Van Dyke (Mary Poppins).

Aquaman

Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and be a hero to the world. Starring Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones), Amber Heard (Magic Mike XXL), Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man), Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones), Dolph Lundgren (Universal Soldier), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The Get Down), and Nicole Kidman (The Hours).

Dumplin’

Willowdean (‘Dumplin’), the plus-size teenage daughter of a former beauty queen, signs up for her mom’s Miss Teen Bluebonnet pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionising the pageant and their small Texas town. Starring Danielle Macdonald (Patti Cake$), Aniston (We’re the Millers), Luke Benward (Dear John), Odeya Rush (Lady Bird), Dove Cameron (Descendants), Bex Taylor-Klaus (Hell Fest), and Maddie Brown (Hairspray Live!).

Mary Queen of Scots
Mary Stuart’s attempt to overthrow her cousin Elizabeth I, Queen of England, finds her condemned to years of imprisonment before facing execution. Starring Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad), Saorise Ronan (Brooklyn), Jack Lowden (Dunkirk), Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians), and David Tennant (Doctor Who).

Bumblebee
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie, on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. Starring Hailee Steinfeld (The Edge of Seventeen), John Cena (Trainwreck), and Jorge Lendeborg Jr (Love Simon).

Mortal Engines
A mysterious young woman named Hester Shaw joins forces with Anna Fang, a dangerous outlaw with a bounty on her head, and Tom Natsworthy, an outcast from London, to lead a rebellion against a giant predator city on wheels. Starring Hera Hilmar (Anna Karenina), Hugo Weaving (Lord of the Rings), Robert Sheehan (Misfits), Leifur Sigurdarson, and Jihae (Mars).

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle
A human child raised by wolves must face off against a menacing tiger named Shere Khan, as well as his own origins. Featuring the voices of Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), Cate Blanchett (Carol), Andy Serkis (Black Panther), and Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire).

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse
Spider-Man crosses parallel dimensions and teams up with the Spider-Men of those dimensions to stop a threat to all reality. Featuring the voices of Jake Johnson (New Girl), Hailee Steinfeld (The Edge of Seventeen), Nicholas Cage (National Treasure), Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan), and Mahershala Ali (House of Cards).

Second Act
A big box store worker reinvents her life and her life-story and shows Madison Avenue what street smarts can do. Starring Jennifer Lopez (Shades of Blue), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us), and Freddie Stroma (unREAL).

Holmes and Watson
A humorous take on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic mysteries featuring Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. Starring Will Ferrell (Anchorman), John C. Reilly (Guardians of Galaxy), Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel), and Hugh Laurie (House).

Vice
VICE explores how a bureaucratic Washington insider quietly became the most powerful man in the world as Vice-President to George W. Bush, reshaping the country and the globe in ways still felt today. Starring Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Amy Adams (Sharp Objects), Steve Carell (The Office), and Sam Rockwell (Moon).
