Come From Away: Musical To Become Feature Film

Come From Away Movie Broadway

Come From Away has been picked up to be turned into a feature film by the Mark Gordon Company (Saving Private Ryan, Murder on the Orient Express).

The show is set in the week following the Sept. 11 attacks and focuses on the passengers aboard 38 planes that were ordered to land unexpectedly in the Canadian small towns of Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador. Forced to remain on the ground, over 6000 people find the small-town residents opening their hearts and homes in a contrast to the terrorist attack occurring in America

Christopher Ashley won best director for the musical and it was also nominated for six others including best musical.

Ashley is also set to direct the movie, while Irene Sankoff and David Hein who wrote the book, lyrics and music for the production are also set to help with the production. The musical is still playing in New York and it will have its North American tour this year.
