Crazy Rich Asians August 2018 Movies

August appears to be a great month for movies, with a great range coming to both theatres and Netflix! This month sees some exciting book-to-movie adaptations including Jenny Han’s YA novel To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians, and Alexandra Bracken’s The Darkest Minds. Other movies we’ll be racing out to see include Christoper Robin starring Ewan McGregor and the beloved Winnie The Pooh characters, Kristen Bell and Kelsey Grammer in a new Netflix Original movie, Like Father, and a crazy new spy comedy, The Spy Who Dumped Me. But really, all of August’s movies look fantastic and we can’t wait to watch them!

Christopher Robin

An adult Christopher Robin, who is now focused on his new life, work, and family, suddenly meets his old friend Winnie the Pooh, who returns to his unforgotten childhood past to help him return to the Hundred Acre Wood and help find Pooh’s lost friends. Starring Ewan McGregor (Moulin Rouge), Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter), and Mark Gatiss (Sherlock) with voices by Jim Cummings (Winnie The Pooh), Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), and Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who).

The Spy Who Dumped Me

Audrey and Morgan are best friends who unwittingly become entangled in an international conspiracy when one of the women discovers the boyfriend who dumped her was actually a spy. Starring Mila Kunis (Bad Moms), Kate McKinnon (Ghostbusters 2016), Justin Theroux (The Girl On The Train), and Sam Heughan (Outlander).

Like Father

A workaholic woman who is left at the altar takes her honeymoon trip anyway with her overachieving father who left her mother because he believed his family was holding back his career. Starring Kristen Bell (The Good Place), Kelsey Grammer (Frasier), and Seth Rogen (Bad Neighbours).

The Darkest Minds

When teens mysteriously develop powerful new abilities, they are declared a threat by the government and detained. Sixteen-year-old Ruby, one of the most powerful young people anyone has encountered, escapes her camp and joins a group of runaway teens seeking safe haven. Soon this newfound family realizes that, in a world in which the adults in power have betrayed them, running is not enough and they must wage a resistance, using their collective power to take back control of their future. Starring Amandla Stenberg (Everything Everything), Mandy Moore (This Is Us), and Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones).

The Happytime Murders

When the puppet cast of an ’80s children’s TV show begins to get murdered one by one, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet takes on the case. Starring Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), Joel McHale (Community), and Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids).

Dog Days follows a group of interconnected people in Los Angeles who are brought together by their lovable canine counterparts. Starring Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Vanessa Hudgens (Powerless), Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives), and Lauren Lapkus (Jurassic World).

Mile 22

An elite American intelligence officer, aided by a top-secret tactical command unit, tries to smuggle a mysterious police officer with sensitive information out of the country. The Little Stranger
