A Bloody Battle Begins in New ‘American Gods’ Trailer

American Gods is possibly one of this year’s most anticipated new television shows and with the release of a new trailer today, it looks like its going to be worth it.

Based on Neil Gaiman’s novel released in 2001, the series features an epic clash between new and old gods living in modern-day America.

The series follows Shadow Moon, an ex-con, who is hired by the mysterious Mr Wednesday to act as his bodyguard and errand boy. Shadow soon finds himself rediscovering the world which is full of gods from Norse and Egyptian deities to new ones known as Technology and Media.

In this new trailer, Shadow and Mr Wednesday traverse their way through America where they come across bloody fields and meet deities such as Easter (played by Kristin Chenoweth), while Shadow receives warnings from his recently deceased wife about getting “mixed up in some really weird shit”. But that really weird shit looks like it’s going to make an epic television show.

The series comes from Starz who announced back in 2014 they would be adapting the novel with Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and Michael Green (Heroes) at the helm, after HBO failed.

Starring Ricky Whittle (The 100), Ian McShane (Deadwood), Emily Browning (Suckerpunch), Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black) and Gillian Anderson (The X-Files).

American Gods premieres April 30th on Starz.
