8 Movies To Watch On A Summer Night

Movies To Watch During Summer

When the nights aren’t cooling down and you don’t really feel up to anything much except lying around and hoping for some cool wind or a little bit of rain your evening, it can get a little tedious. I myself do not really want to read anything because even the light from my nightstand lamp is sending its heat out and it starts to get unbearable. If you have guests over at some point everyone is so exhausted that the chaotic discussion comes to an end, but no one wants to leave yet.

So what I prefer to do on such evenings is to pick a DVD and enjoy a movie while sitting in front of the fan. What follows next are some of my recommendations, if you feel like I do when the temperature is going up and does not want to stop.

Movies To Watch During Summer

An already classic choice are the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. When it is almost as hot as at the place where the movies are taking place, you can identify yourself with fainting Elizabeth wearing a corset in the burning sun immediately. It does help to know that you are not the only one coping badly with these high temperatures. They say if you hear the water flowing, you need to go to the bathroom so perhaps seeing a lot of open water you will feel refreshed. If not, you have at least Captain Jack Sparrow taking you on a tour through the Caribbean.

I love dance movies as they give me a certain life philosophy I love to embrace. Of course, if I do not feel like dancing myself when it’s hot, at least I can watch others dancing their shoes off. One of my favourite choices is the 2011 remake of Footloose. The movie is about a conservative town where dancing is forbidden and the younger generation are not happy with that and rebel against this law. Any Dancing With the Stars Fans here? So you will know who Julianne Hough is. She is one of the most talented dancers I have ever seen and I love how she transports the meaning of the music through her body. Kenny Wormald on the other hand is one of the hardest working dancers I know and he is not much into acting, but I highly recommend to follow him on Instagram where he shows snippets from his dance classes which are taking place in his dance studio, the LA Playground.

Let us stick with Julianne for a bit longer. I am not much into romantic books, but Nicholas Sparks is an exception because he mostly writes his stories based on situations that have happened to him or people he knows. One of my favourite books and movie is Safe Haven, which is a perfect movie for a couple who wants to laugh together and maybe even cry a little bit too. It tells the story of a woman escaping her abusive marriage by taking the first bus to take her far away and so she ends up in her own safe haven and finds real love in the end. The twist comes at the end when it turns out that there is a little invisible hand, a guardian angel, looking not only after her, but also the man she falls in love with.

If you have kids or little brothers and sisters, you may need something that entertains them all. Well, let’s be honest, you don’t really need a reason to sit down and put in a Disney movie into your DVD recorder. You are never too old for Disney, right? My personal choice is Big Hero 6. For one, Baymax is one of the cutest characters for me that always make me smile and then you have a couple of geniuses, which become friends and fight for the good cause. As most people know, there is a very sad scene in the beginning, but as the movie continues it is just one of the most entertaining animate movies out. Enjoy, Balalalalala.

From Disney to Marvel, it is just a quick step over. I can watch a Marvel movie at any time, but Black Panther is my favourite currently. The film features good music, funny jokes, great action scenes, and an incredible cast. Take a glass of water, lean back, and go on an adventure in Wakanda.

Another movie that radiates heat is an older one with Antonio Banderas portraying a dance teacher in the movie Take The Lead. He teaches teenagers who are on detention how to dance, so they are occupied with creating something instead of doing bad stuff or go back to their broken homes. There is a lot of tango moves combined with street dance and it is really amazing to watch how dance can change a person. Based on a true story, this movie will turn your living room into a dance studio.

I personally don’t know anyone who has seen The Words, so if you haven’t, I want to introduce you to this nice quiet movie. Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper play two characters from a book that the author is reading in front of an audience. His story is about an aspiring writer who loses himself during his work dreaming of writing a bestseller and ends up copying the manuscript of an unknown writer, which he has found in a briefcase his wife bought him in an antique shop.

My last recommendation is a movie that is so old that it can be also called a classic. Based on the book by Joanne Harris, Chocolat is a movie that will lift you up no matter what. One day a woman comes into a very tiny town with just a bag in one hand and her daughter on the other one and she starts a patisserie in this strict conservative town. When a group of gypsies are visiting the town, the villagers are tying everything to get both of them out of there. The plot seems to be not a nice one, but there is a certain kind of magic surrounding this movie that it is just lovely to watch and you will be taken away by it that you forget all your problems and not care about how high the temperature is.
